Fred Gardiner (1890 to 1963)—A cabinetmaker who was apprenticed to Ernest Gimson (one of the leading furniture designers of the 20th century) and also worked for Peter Waals (one of the leading cabinetmakers of the 20th century) who then set up his own workshop at Oakridge. Known for his top class hand-made furniture in English walnut and English oak, his work is always beautifully designed, made of superb materials and exceptionally made
